Course Description

This 5-day workshop offers a comprehensive dive into BLAST (Basic Local Alignment Search Tool) and phylogenetic tree construction. Participants will begin with an introduction to BLAST, exploring both online and standalone versions. Practical sessions include hands-on experience with standalone BLAST, leading into a study of phylogenetic tree construction principles. The final sessions focus on building phylogenetic trees using MEGA software, equipping attendees with essential skills for evolutionary analysis

Course Outcomes

  • Understand the fundamentals of BLAST and its applications in sequence alignment.
  • Gain hands-on experience with both online and standalone BLAST.
  • Learn the principles of phylogenetic tree construction for evolutionary studies.
  • Develop skills to build and analyze phylogenetic trees using MEGA software.
  • Apply BLAST and phylogenetic tools to real-world biological data analysis.

Rules & Regulations

  •  Attendance and Participation: Attendance is mandatory to ensure a comprehensive learning experience.
  •  Discipline: Maintain punctuality and respect in the sessions. Engage actively and interact respectfully with instructors and peers.
